Union Trust Sponsors 23rd Annual Ellsworth High School Scholarship Golf Tournament

ELLSWORTH, June 15, 2007 – 7/7/07 will be a lucky day for more than one golfer – and many Ellsworth High School students – as players take to the fairways at the 23rd Annual Union Trust – Ellsworth High School Scholarship Golf Tournament. The Tournament, held at the Bar Harbor Golf Course in Trenton, raises money for the Scholarship Fund that supports local students in their pursuit of college educations. Prizes are awarded in several categories, including a Hole-in-One Prize of a new Chevrolet from Morrison Chevrolet. Over the past 7 years, the event has raised nearly $60,000 in scholarships for Ellsworth High School graduates.

For the 8th year, George Ray, Sr., president of the Alumni Association, is working hard to rally Ellsworth behind the high school scholarship. Supporters get involved as players, sponsors of the holes, and donors of raffle gifts and other prizes. Clyde Lewis of Morrison’s Chevrolet is proud to offer the special prize of a Chevrolet to anyone who scores a hole-in-one. His message: “Good Luck, Have a Good Time – Win a Chevrolet!” Bob Carter, senior vice president of Union Trust, is a veteran organizer of golf tournaments. To ensure a place, Bob encourages everyone interested in joining the play to make reservations early.

Men’s, women’s, and mixed teams will compete for prizes in this 18-hole foresome scramble. Tee-off time is 8am, with registration, coffee, and donuts starting at 7:30am. Lunch and the awards ceremony are scheduled for 1pm. The entry fee is $60. (Carts rented separately.)

Entry forms are available at all Union Trust branches and at area golf courses. Deadline for entry is June 30.
