Nation's Eyes On Question 1

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- A number of people will be waiting on the results of question one -- whether or not to repeal the law that allows same sex couples to marry... and it isn't just Mainers who are buzzing over the issue.

PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) -- A number of people will be waiting on the results of question one -- whether or not to repeal the law that allows same sex couples to marry... and it isn't just Mainers who are buzzing over the issue.

MSNBC has been at Portland's Exposition building all day going live every hour to give updates about question 1.

Even ABC, NBC, and the social networking site Twitter have been buzzing about the issue. If voters choose one way or the other on question one it could set a major precedent for the rest of the country.

MSNBC anchor, Contessa Brewer, says, "If voters go forward today and they say, 'We are going to grant the right to marry on our gay neighbors,' they will be the first in the nation to do so; and it's pivotal.  It will be historic.  If they overturn the legislature's decision, it will also be important.  It puts an exclamation point on a movement we've seen nationally."

Contessa Brewer's show will be broadcast live Wednesday afternoon at 2 on MSNBC from Portland.
